Organize Contacts in Groups

Contacts are organized into groups (or categories) to make them easier to find and manage. Common groups names like Family, Friends, and Business are offered to add when you first start using the program, but you are free to use any names you prefer. There is no limit to the number of groups.

Add a Group

To add a new group:

  • Select File > New Group, or
  • Right-click on any item in the Groups list on the left sidebar and select New Group.

This action will open the following dialog:

Dialog for adding or editing Contact Group

Enter a name for the new group. If the group is business-related, click the Business button. The distinction between Business and Personal groups is for user convenience: contacts in a business group will open on the Business page, while others will open on the Personal page.

Rename a Group or Change Group Type

To modify an existing group:

  • Double-click the selected group in the Groups list of the left sidebar, or
  • Right-click the group and select Edit Group.
  • Within the edit dialog, you can also change the group type (Personal/Business) by clicking the Personal or Business button.

Delete a Group

To delete a group:

  • Right-click a group and select Delete Group.
  • If the group contains contacts, a confirmation dialog will appear before the deletion is finalized.

Note

The top-level Groups entry itself cannot be deleted.

Move Contacts Between Groups

To move one or more contacts from their current group to another:

  • Select the contact(s) from the list.
  • Right-click to open the context menu.
  • Select Move Contact to Group... and choose the target group.
