Working with Tags
Tags allow you to group contacts that belong to different groups but share common characteristics.
For example, you may want to create a list of people you send Christmas cards to, including both friends and business associates. Since a contact can only belong to one primary group, tags provide a flexible solution for cross-categorization. A single contact can have multiple tags, and contacts from different groups can share the same tag.
Manage Tags
To manage tags:
- Select any tag item on the left sidebar.
- Right click to select New Tag, Rename Tag, or Delete Tag.

Note
Top-level Tags entry itself cannot be deleted.
Deleting a tag removes it from all contacts to which it was assigned.
Assign Tags to Contacts
You can assign tags directly from the main contact list:
- Select the Groups, or one or more individual groups.
- Select one or more contacts,
- Right-click the selected contacts and choose the target tag. (You can also create a new tag here and assign it to the selected contact(s).)

Alternatively, you can assign, remove tags, or add a new tag in the Contact Editor using the Tags drop-down list:

Remove Tag from Contacts
To remove a tag from one or more contacts:
- Select the tag in the Tags list on the left sidebar.
- Select the contacts from which you want the tag removed.
- Right-click and select Remove Tag
from N contacts option, or - Simply press the Delete key, and confirm the removal.
Move Contacts Between Tags
To move one or more contacts from their current tag to another:
- Select the contact(s) from the list.
- Right-click to open the context menu.
- Select Move Contact to Tag... and choose the target tag.
